Got ticks? Get Guinea Fowl!

We live on a private, dirt road, surrounded by woods. We have ticks, and plenty of them. They're nasty little things, that embed their nasty little selves into my children and puppies, trying to spread lyme disease... (Paige has pulled one out of her hip, I've pulled one out of Sophia's temple, and off Noah's neck. Each of the pups have been sucked on, too.)

DIE TICKS DIE!

Get ready to meet your maker, ticks! Friday we picked up our guinea keets, at Shady Hollow Gamebirds. We got 7, and hope they'll eat their weight in ticks each day! We'll just let them roam around the property, and consume ticks. That's what they do.

They need to stay inside for awhile, under a heat lamp, until they get their feathers and can survive the outdoors. They're cute lil things for now... check em out!

Hi Christine!!! Sorry I haven't visited more often!!!! I also lost all the links on my blog due to a template issue on there. I was SOOOO frustrated!! Any links I had that weren't homeschool blogger friends were GONE along with anything else I had. Knitting links, books I love, etc!!! I have to remember to save my template next time!!!
Those guinea fowl are SO cute!! Hope they eat all those darn ticks!! Miss you! Love, Bridge

Sure don't like ticks either! I am sure that Sophia will love chasing the guinea fowl around the yard!

Does advantix or frontline work for your dogs ticks at all?

We're using the Advantix for the pups, but it's the kids (& us) I'm worried about for lyme disease. We've pulled ticks out of all of us this year. Yuck!

What cute little tick eaters. Hope they are as good at catching the little buggers as they are cute!

Hi! I am looking for info about guinea fowl and found your blog. Did they reduce your tick problem, do you think? Did you have to house them over the winter or let them roam (like wild turkeys do)? Thank you.
