The kids have ANOTHER snow day today. I think this is number eight. We've been smacked hard lately with snow and other winter weather. Wish I had a vacation planned for Florida, or somewhere else warm and snow free. Next week is school vacation, and it probably won't snow at all. :)
A MESSY MIDWEEK STORM
Heavy snow is only half of the story - snow changes to sleet, freezing rain and rain during the morning hours, first along the coast then spreading inland. The temperatures this morning are in the teens inland, that means the cold air will be tough to scour out. As warm air tries to invade on an easterly wind it will start to ride up and over that chilly air at the surface. This will lead to an icing event that may top the story of the heavy snow this morning. Several hours of sleet and freezing rain will accumulate to glaze ice on all surfaces where that cold air hangs on. This will mean power outages and dangerous driving conditions this afternoon.
This is what it looked like after the 1998 Ice Storm, that left us without power for close to two weeks.
Oil lamps, check.
Flashlights, check.
Woodstove is crackling
We're ready.
Bring it on.

Stay warm up there!
Most of all...STAY SAFE!!!!
We've had two snow days this week, we had two inches of snow! That's A LOT for this neck of the woods.
Hope your conditions improve soon, we got another 15 cm of snow overnight, yikes!!
The girls are loving every minute of this wintery weather!! ;)
Hope you keep your power..
Wow! Will your kiddos have to make up those days in June? We've only had one snow day here. I'm glad you have your supplies ready, and I hope that the storms aren't bad, and you keep your electricity!
I hope you don't lose power as well, I can't stand to be without power. Our weather is the WIERDEST, yeterday 70 park fun, today 28 sleet, tommorrow forecast high 59 sunny.
SO I can't complain.
Oh my! I guess an ice storm would equate to our lovely South Mississippi hurricanes?
Good Luck!
Tis the season!
Stay warm and safe :0)
YIKES!!! How are you managing not to kill the children?????
WOW! I have never seen so much snow! I hope you don't loose power and you all stay warm!
Hope you get some warmth soon...maybe you need to come for a visit her ein sunny South Florida. It has been in the 80's except today we actually had to bust out a sweater since the high was only 70. We are total wimps here. PS MY esnips auto play has not worked either. then I tried inemm and it didn't work either. Maybe a problem with blogger?
I hope you are fairing the storm ok. Stay safe and warm my friend.
God Bless You
